Recovery Service (North and South) is an NHS team that provides support to adults with complex or ongoing mental health issues, who are registered with a GP practice in Sheffield. You may also hear them referred to as ‘a community mental health team’. The teams are multi-disciplinary, which means they are made up of staff with different professional backgrounds.

To access the Recovery Service, you must be referred by Single Point of Access (SPA).

They deliver treatment and support which is tailored to the individual needs of each service user. The support offered can broadly be described under three categories, which includes care for people with:

  • Psychotic disorders
  • Non-psychotic disorders
  • Personality disorders

All of the support provided will be based on an individual’s needs and people should be fully involved in deciding what will work best for them. They review care plans regularly with the person involved and anyone else they want involved in their care, such as family, loved one or carer.

They work closely with the Home Treatment Team who provide short-term support at home to avoid admission to hospital.

There are 2 teams covering the Sheffield split geographically:

  • Recovery Service North:  Based at Northlands Community Health Centre, Southey Hill, Sheffield, S5 8BE; Tel: 0114 271 6217
  • Recovery Service South:  Based at East Glade Centre, 1 East Glade Crescent, Frecheville, Sheffield, S12 4QN; Tel: 0114 271 6451

The service is available Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.
