Key Information
- In person & remote
- Adults (over 18)
b:Friend is a befriending service for older adults (65+) experiencing social isolation and loneliness in South Yorkshire.
One-to-One Befriending
Their one-to-one befriending can be in person or over the phone.
b:Friend recruits volunteer befrienders who pledge to visit a socially isolated older neighbour near them for one hour per week. They pair individuals primarily based on location and personal interests. Each befriender and older neighbour receive regular support to ensure they’re benefitting from the project.
If you live outside of the areas b:friend currently works in, there are still plenty of ways to get involved, including telephone befriending.
You can refer an older adult to b:Friend using their online form.
You can learn more about being a volunteer on their website and apply to volunteer using their online form.
Social Clubs
Along with the 1:1 befriending, they also host weekly Social Clubs at various locations (including Sheffield).
The Social Clubs deliver a wide range of activities such as guest speakers, dancing or yoga to mindful crafts, games, quizzes and more.
All venues have full disabled accessibility.
