Al-Anon Family Groups is part of a worldwide organisation offering understanding and support for families and friends of people who have issues around alcohol. They can support you whether the person is still drinking or not.
Al-Anon run a helpline that is open 10am – 10pm, 365 days a year. You can call for confidential help around someone else’s drinking. Their volunteers can also help you find your local Al-Anon meeting. Call the help line on 0800 0086 811.
Al-Anon also hold regular meetings where members share their own experience of living with issues around alcohol. Some of these are in person and some are online. You can find when and where their meetings take place in your area using their online directory.
Alateen
Alateen is for young people aged 12 – 17 years who have been affected by someone else’s drinking, often that of a parent. This service is not for teenagers with issues around alcohol, unless their lives have also been affected by someone else’s drinking.
