Flippin’ Mental Theatre is a community enterprise working to develop theatre activities around the theme of mental health. It is supported by Sheffield Flourish, and led by writer Kathryn Littlewood.

Flippin’Mental Theatre run regular drama courses for people with lived experience of mental health difficulties and distress.

Recent projects include:

  • Drama for the Mind: a drama group for individuals with lived experience of mental health difficulties and distress. In 2021, the participants produced ‘A Step in the Dark’, a video of monologues around a moment in their lives when the outcome of that moment was unknown. Please be aware that some monologues may include trigger subjects such as suicide and bullying.
  • Cultivating Mad Cow: Kathryn has adapted her memoir, Cultivating Madcow, into a one-woman theatre piece. Since Spring 2020 Kathryn has been working with 6 people with lived experience of mental ill-health and an interest in the theatre to help develop the play.
  • Suicide Monologues: A theatre piece made up of 10-12 stories under the theme of suicide, performed as part of Sheffield’s Festival of the Mind. They also worked with people with lived experience of mental ill-health and an interest in the theatre to develop the content of the performance.
