Mentalmate is a mental health support group that uses the power of boxing to help people talk about their mental illness.

They meet in Neepsend at Rutland Hall (Hicks Street, Sheffield, S3 8BL).  They have boxing sessions every Wednesday evening and Sunday morning, plus Women’s Only session on Thursday evening and Parent and Child Boxing Saturday mornings.  See more information on their website

Anyone is welcome to join, no experience of boxing required. Mentalmate is a peer support group. This means that it is run by people with lived experience of mental health struggles. The sessions are currently free.

You should bring to a session:

  • Suitable gym clothing and footwear.
  • A drink
  • If you do not have your own boxing gloves and hand wraps, they can provide you with the equipment needed.
