Stand Alone are a national charity who support people who are estranged from their family or children.

They provide support groups and workshops where you can meet people who have also experienced estrangement, in a supportive, non-judgemental space. The groups run monthly and are facilitated by experienced person-centred counsellors.

Furthermore, they also provide a list of psychotherapists and counsellors who can support you. However, these are private therapists and you will need to cover the costs yourself.

If you are interested in attending a local support group you can register your interest by emailing

The Stand Alone website also has a number of information guides on issues around family estrangement.

Covid update 08/02/21: Most services continue under covid-safe conditions but may be experiencing changes to how or when they deliver their service. Contact Stand Alone directly for the latest information.
